REVIEW: COVERGIRL Bombshell Collection – Lipsticks

I have to confess. In prepping this post, I now understand why over the years, I’ve heard so many beauty bloggers say how doing lip swatches is the worst. After swatching and photographing only FOUR different lipsticks in one sitting, my poor lips were raw as hell. I can’t imagine what these gals do when a new collection has a dozen lip products. Oof.

I was given the opportunity to try out four different lipsticks from COVERGIRL’s new Bombshell collection – Ravish, Tantalize, Seduce, and Bombshell. While I have to confess that I was initially skeptical of a drugstore lipstick, I was super impressed with all of these shades! They all went on smooth and creamy and had a ton of shine. The wear was impressive, too. Since it’s not a long-wear lipstick, yes, some did come off when I ate, but I only had to reapply once or twice all day. They kept my lips moisturized and hydrated.

NOTE: This is my first time doing lip swatches, y’all. They’ll get better from here on out – pinkie-swear. All were swatched without a lipliner.

LipstickRavish Swatch
Ravish is a plum-toned pinky-red color. It reads as mauve in the tube, but goes on as a creamy purple tone.

LipstickTantalize Swatch
Tantalize turned out to be my shocker – I LOVE THIS SHADE. As in this is one of those “This will always be in my purse” shades. A cool-toned pink with purple undertones, Tantalize has just the slightest hint of an almost metallic sheen to it. Plus, because the undertones are blue-based, it makes your teeth look whiter. WIN.

LipstickSeduce Swatch
Seduce is an interesting shade. In the tube, it looks like a true, blue-based RED. Once on the lips, though, it’s definitely more of a berry-toned pink than a red. Almost wine colored. I’m not saying this is a bad thing – the color is actually quite pretty – I’m just saying that the color in the tube would/will deceive a lot of people.

LipstickBombshell Swatch
And then there’s Bombshell – a BRIGHT, blue-toned berry hot pink. This is one of those shades that I think everyone who has the balls to wear hot pink lipstick needs to have in their arsenal. I already want backups of this baby. Bright, pigmented, super creamy.

My favorites in this collection are Tantalize and Bombshell, and if you were going to pass on any, I’d say to pass on Seduce.

You might not have to pass on any, though. Coming soon, I’m going to be doing a giveaway for all four lipstick shades, and other goodies. Stay tuned!
Which color is YOUR favorite?

    • YES YES. I should have mentioned that – it’s very similar to Girl About Town. It’s a bit less opaque, but the color tones are super similar. I think you’ll really like it. 🙂

  1. I like bombshell. It’s so gorgeous. Not sure it would work with my skin tone, but I’m gonna have to try it!
